Courage Strengthens the Heart

Courage Strengthens the Heart

Whenever you do something brave, it actually does create an inner strength. If you are willing to step outside of your comfort zone, you'll notice a new kind of strength in future moments. Doing brave acts makes your heart stronger, and we need strong hearts.

Strong hearts can empathize easier; they have more compassion; they can face situations head on. Whenever your heart is strong, you can come at tough situations in love rather than frustration or rage. You can approach people in kindness rather than having to get yourself worked up enough to confront them. Strong hearts produce everything you need to have patient endurance, the faith you need to have to get where you need to go.

When we face all the little moments that make our hearts beat fast and give us butterflies in our tummies with courage, it is just building our strength for future, bigger moments. Every little situation is a strength builder. Are we going to smile or scoff? Are we going to lean in or pull away? Are we going to listen or shut off? All these small moments add up. Sometimes they are the hardest moments. I believe they're important. I believe we need the heart strength to make it through some of life's tough moments, and I believe a strong heart evokes joy.

Be brave, my friends.

"Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart..." Psalm 31:24

Photo Story: There is no real story behind this photo. It was a wild day for the ocean. The waves were huge and crashing everywhere, which was pretty symbolic to what I felt was going on inside of me. Alas, the next day the water calmed and all was well... as waves do, as life does. This was taken in Washington in the Puget Sound region. It's beautiful there.
